The Directorate for Standards, Metrology and Quality welcomes and works with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA)
Under the framework of Japanese technical support project to Vietnam on intensifying standard and regulation conformity systems and activities, The Directorate for Standards, Metrology and Quality (STAMEQ) welcomed and worked with representatives of The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) on September 11th, 2009. Representatives of STAMEQ were Dr. Ngo Quy Viet – Director General – and representatives of some concerned units welcomed JICA. On the JICA side, Mr. Go Shimada – Leader of Trade, Investment and Tourism Division, Industrial Development Board, JICA – was the head of the delegation.

JICA’s goal traveling to Vietnam this time focused on surveying demand of technical support, infrastructure of Vietnamese electrical - electronic standard and regulation conformity, in which the Delegation surveyed some units, such as Quality Assurance and Testing Centre 1 (QUATEST 1), Quality Assurance and Testing Centre 3 (QUATEST 3), Standards and Quality Centre, Certification Centre (QUACERT) and Bureau of Accreditation.

At the working, two parties discussed and altogether agreed to the Project Design Matrix and anticipated the Tentative Plan of Operation.
Japanese technical support project to Vietnam on system intensification and standard, regulation conformity activities will be implemented within 3.5 years, started in November 2009. The general target of this project is Quality of improved electrical - electronic products made in Vietnam ensures safety for consumers.
